Getting started
- What is The Washing Club?
- The Washing Club is a Brisbane laundry pickup and delivery service. We collect dirty laundry from your front door, salon, gym, hotel or Airbnb, professionally wash, dry and fold it, then deliver it back. Owned and operated by Bruce Svenson, based in Salisbury, servicing 100+ Brisbane suburbs.
- How do I book a laundry pickup in Brisbane?
- Three ways: (1) Online at thewashing.club, choose a weekday and submit a request — Bruce confirms the time window. (2) Text 0468 097 087 — our AI booking agent answers 24/7 and Bruce confirms personally. (3) Use the webchat on our site. New customers get $20 off their first pickup — mention at booking.
- Is there a minimum order?
- Yes — 2 loads is the minimum booking at a flat $60 + GST ($66 inc). Each additional load is $25 + GST. One load is up to 5kg. There's no minimum number of pickups per week or per month.
- Do I need a contract?
- No. The Washing Club operates on a no-contract model. You book each pickup individually, set up a regular weekly or twice-weekly schedule if you want, cancel any time without penalty. Pay per pickup, not per month.
Pricing
- How much does laundry pickup cost in Brisbane?
- Flat $60 + GST = $66 inc for the first 2 loads (the minimum booking). Each additional load is $25 + GST = $27.50 inc. Pickups over $100 ex-GST (4+ loads) get an automatic 5% discount; pickups over $200 ex-GST (8+ loads) get 10%. No pickup fee. No fuel surcharge. No contract.
- What does a single load of laundry cost?
- There's no single-load pricing — the minimum booking is 2 loads at $60 + GST flat ($66 inc). One load is up to 5kg. If your wash is genuinely light (a single 5kg bag), the 2-load minimum still applies because it covers our pickup and delivery time.
- Is pickup and delivery free?
- Yes. Free across all 100+ Brisbane suburbs we service. No pickup fee, no fuel surcharge, no distance charges. The pricing you see at booking is the pricing on the invoice.
- Why do you charge per load instead of per kilogram?
- Per-kg services charge you for the weight after they've collected your laundry, plus a pickup fee, plus a fuel surcharge, plus a minimum charge — and you don't know the total until they've weighed it at the depot. Per-load pricing means you know the cost before you book. The invoice matches. No surprises.
- Do you offer a volume discount?
- Yes — automatically. 5% off when your ex-GST subtotal exceeds $100 (which is 4+ loads). 10% off when your ex-GST subtotal exceeds $200 (8+ loads). The discount applies on every qualifying pickup without needing a code or commitment.
Service area
- What Brisbane suburbs do you service?
- We service 100+ Brisbane suburbs across inner-city, inner-east, inner-north, inner-west, inner-south, western suburbs, southwest and southside Brisbane. Based in Salisbury, we cover roughly Brisbane CBD out to Forest Lake, Carindale, Chermside, Indooroopilly and the Centenary suburbs. Full suburb list at thewashing.club/suburbs.
- Do you cover the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast?
- No — we're Brisbane-only. If you're outside our Brisbane service area, we can't help. We don't expand into the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast at this time.
- Is laundry pickup available in Salisbury?
- Yes — Salisbury is our home suburb. Our base is in Salisbury and we offer the fastest pickup turnaround in the surrounding area (Coopers Plains, Moorooka, Tarragindi, Annerley, Acacia Ridge).
What we wash
- What kinds of laundry do you handle?
- Hair salon towels, gowns and capes; spa robes and treatment-room linen; gym member towels; pilates reformer covers; massage clinic sheets and treatment towels; Airbnb sheets, towels and robes; hotel linen; restaurant tea towels, bar mops and chef whites; medical and dental clinic gowns; family household laundry including school uniforms, sports kit, bed linen and bath towels.
- Do you do dry cleaning?
- No. The Washing Club is a wash-and-fold service only. We don't dry clean. If you need dry cleaning, we'll refer you to a Brisbane dry cleaner — that's a different specialty.
- Do you iron?
- No. We wash, dry and fold — we don't iron. If you need shirts pressed or business attire ironed, that's a service we don't offer. Many of our customers iron themselves or use a separate ironing service.
- Do you wash oil-stained or heavily-soiled commercial laundry?
- Yes. We use a fragrance-free, sensitive-skin detergent that's stronger than most on the market, and we can add oxy bleach to the wash on request for extra cleaning. We don't promise stain removal — we'll tell you upfront if something isn't going to come out. We don't claim to meet any specific compliance standard.
- What detergent do you use?
- A fragrance-free, sensitive-skin detergent that's stronger than most domestic detergents on the market. We can add oxy bleach to the wash on request for an extra cleaning boost. If you have a specific detergent you prefer, you're welcome to supply your own.
- Can I supply my own detergent?
- Yes. If you have a specific brand or formulation you'd like used on your laundry, drop it off at pickup and we'll use it on your loads.
- Can you hand-wash delicate items?
- Yes, hand-washing is available on request. It's a per-item charge based on the size of the item and the time it takes — we quote it upfront so you know before booking.
- Can you do extra wash cycles or a pre-wash soak?
- Yes if you ask us. By default we run our standard wash cycle. If your items need a pre-wash rinse, a soak, or an extra cycle, flag it at booking and we lock it in.
- Can I send a king-size doona for washing?
- Yes. Large bedding (king doonas, weighted blankets) counts toward the per-load weight (5kg per load). A king doona usually counts as one load on its own. We confirm the load count at pickup.
Turnaround
- How fast do I get my laundry back?
- We try for a 24-hour turnaround in most cases. Depending on how many orders are on at the time and the size of yours, we may ask for a bit more time. We don't promise guaranteed same-day or next-day turnaround as a standing offer.
- Do you do same-day laundry?
- Not as a standing offer. We try for 24 hours; we'll tell you upfront if your order needs longer.
- What times do you pick up and deliver?
- Our standard pickup and delivery window is 5pm-8pm, 7 days a week. We can arrange other times if needed — that's a conversation with Bruce. As we grow we may need to push back on flexibility, but for now special times are usually possible.
Logistics
- Do I need to sort my laundry first?
- No — drop everything in one bag. If lights and darks need to wash separately, we'll handle the sorting at pickup. A separate light/dark requirement may count as a separate load and we tell you upfront if so.
- Do I need to be home for pickup?
- No. For business pickups we collect from an agreed safe spot, use a key, or meet a staff member at reception. For residential pickups, unattended pickup is fine if the bag is in an agreed spot — front porch, building lobby, key safe. Flag access arrangements in your booking notes.
- Can you handle daily pickup for a busy gym or hotel?
- Yes. High-volume gyms, hotels and short-stay operators book daily or twice-daily pickup schedules. We lock in the slot so towels and linen are always ready before opening or the next changeover.
- What happens if something gets lost or damaged?
- Tell us straight away — text 0468 097 087 or email bruce@thewashing.club. We log every load at pickup and delivery, and Bruce handles any issue personally. We don't have an automated complaint queue.
Comparison
- Are you cheaper than The Laundry Lady?
- For most pickups, yes — typically $3-$6 cheaper at 2-3 loads, and the gap widens as our volume discount kicks in at 4+ loads. We don't charge pickup fees or fuel surcharges. See the full comparison at thewashing.club/pricing.
- How do you compare to a laundromat?
- Laundromats charge $10-$13 in coin costs per load, plus you spend 75-120 minutes per visit on the drive + cycle + folding. A 2-load laundromat trip ends up at $120-$180 once you fairly value staff time. Our 2-load pickup is $66 inc with free pickup and delivery, no time lost.
- Are you NDIS registered?
- No. We're not a registered NDIS provider. If you need NDIS-funded laundry services we'd refer you to a provider who is — that's a different business model with specific compliance requirements.
Trust
- Who runs The Washing Club?
- Bruce Svenson and his wife — Brisbane-based, Salisbury-located, family-team operation. The Washing Club is a tight team with an AI booking agent that handles inquiries 24/7. Bruce personally confirms every booking; Bruce and his wife handle every customer issue between them.
- How long have you been doing this?
- Bruce launched The Washing Club as its own business in January 2025. The laundry side started earlier — back in 2021, doing washing for clients of his cleaning business including an Airbnb host. Regular washing pickups started August 2024. So while the brand is newer, the actual experience doing this for paying customers goes back several years.
- Do you have insurance?
- Yes. We carry public liability insurance. If something genuinely goes wrong with your laundry, we deal with you directly to make it right — no automated complaint queue, no subcontractor chain to chase.
- How do I leave feedback or a review?
- After your pickup is complete, you'll receive a link to thewashing.club/feedback. From there you can leave a Google review, a Facebook review, or send private feedback directly to Bruce. We're a young business and reviews genuinely shape how we run.
